Apple Day

All things apple every October

For the last few years we’ve been involved in helping to organise ‘Apple Day’ at HEART in Headingley. This free event takes place on a Saturday afternoon in October – this year October 20th 2018. We concentrate on the core activity – community juicing of apples brought in by local people, supplemented by some of the apples from the trees on our sites. With help from Leeds Urban Harvest and their equipment, apples get pressed and the juice drunk or bottled. We’ll be juicing from 1.30 to 4.30 – assuming we have enough apples!

If you have surplus apples that you don’t need and are willing to donate them to the community juicing, we’d be very grateful. You can drop them in to HEART the day before, or on the day itself. If you’d like one of us to collect them, please get in touch. You can email us on info@headingleycommunityorchard.org.uk

Lots of other things happen as well. Activities for children, stalls, talks (cider making, for instance), music and Morris dancing.
