All things apple every October
For the last few years we’ve been involved in helping to organise ‘Apple Day’ at HEART in Headingley. This free event usually takes place on a Saturday afternoon in October. We concentrate on the core activity – community juicing of apples brought in by local people, supplemented by some of the apples from the trees on our sites. With help from equipment from Leeds Urban Harvest, apples get pressed (child labour definitely welcome) and the juice drunk or bottled. We are really grateful to local people who help on the day.
Lots of other things usually happen as well. In past years there have been activities for children, stalls, talks (cider making, for instance), music an Morris dancers …..
